The Stratford-Perth YMCA has gotten a big contribution from The Cowan Foundation. They’ve donated $37,500. That money will be going towards rejuvenating the Stratford Youth Centre. It’ll help cover the costs of things like new paint, lighting, flooring and furniture.
The federal Perth-Wellington Liberals have their man. Stephen McCotter won the nomination last night. The St. Marys lawyer defeated a fellow St. Marys resident, businessman Colin Thomson. McCotter will be running in next year’s election against Conservative John Nater. The NDP have yet to name a candidate for this riding.
The Community Action Group will be holding a rally in St. Marys Friday. It’s to protest the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance’s bed redistribution plan. It’s happening in front of St. Marys Memorial Hospital at 4:00 p.m.
The 7th Annual Your Neighbourhood Credit Union Jingle Fun Run is just around the corner. It’s happening on November 30th. Proceeds from the event go to the YMCA’s Strong Kids campaign. If you’d like to take part you can find registration information at the Stratford-Perth YMCA’s website.
